Global apparel giant VF Corp. said Monday it has acquired workwear company Williamson-Dickie Mfg. Co. for $820 million in cash.
VF stated in a news release that the company will add $200 million to VF’s 2017 revenue, now predicted to be $11.85 billion.
The Greensboro-based VF stated that Williamson-Dickie brands include Dickies, Workrite, Kodiak, Terra, and Walls. VF already sells the workwear brands Wrangler RIGGS Workwear, Timberland PRO, Red Kap, Bulwark, and Horace Small.
Philip Williamson, Williamson-Dickie’s chief executive officer, will remain with the Fort Worth, Texas-based company.
During the recent 12 months, Williamson-Dickie’s revenue was about $875 million, the news release stated.
VF’s workwear brands will now total $1.7 billion in annual revenue, the news release stated, and add 7,000 employees to VF’s operations.
With the acquisition, VF said its revenue will rise 3.5 percent to $11.85 billion compared with the previous prediction of $11.65 billion.
The release stated that VF’s operating margin is now expected to approximate 13.7 percent, compared with the previous prediction of about 14 percent, and includes the impact of Williamson-Dickie.
VF Corp. sells such worldwide brands as Vans, The North Face, Timberland, Wrangler and Lee. Founded in 1899, VF is one of the world’s largest apparel, footwear and accessories companies, the company stated.
